Ningbo's mold industry is in a leading position in China, with more than 3000 large and small mold enterprises in the city. But compared with the international level, Ningbo mold industry is still relatively backward, especially in the production of precision mold. Lin Senmao, Secretary General of Ningbo Mold Association, told the reporter: "the overall level of Ningbo mold industry may not even catch up with that of South Korea. Now we are still very hard to make molds with accuracy less than 2 microns." It has been proved many times by experts at home and abroad that there is still a gap of more than 10 years between Ningbo mould and the advanced level of Japan, and a gap of more than 5 years between Ningbo mould and South Korea.
Relevant people pointed out that Ningbo mold industry has reached the leading level in China on the whole, and some mold products such as casting mold and stamping mold have little influence in the world, but the overall development level is still far behind the international advanced level, most of the products are concentrated in the low-grade areas, and the technical level and added value of the mold are low. Now Ningbo mold industry is in the "climbing period", that is, from low-grade to high-grade development period. In this period, we need to introduce advanced technology and equipment, advanced mold development concept, and talents who can use equipment and understand mold development.

In April 2011, the German Chamber of international entrepreneurs, together with the German government, launched the "China EU strategic partnership action plan" to express its willingness to cooperate with Chinese enterprises. Ningbo Economic Committee immediately contacted Ningbo Mould Industry Association after learning about this situation. Subsequently, Ningbo mould association invited German International Chamber of Commerce of entrepreneurs to come to Ningbo to inspect enterprises. During the inspection, the two sides hit it off and decided to carry out strategic cooperation.

At the same time, the level of Ningbo mold industry is in the forefront of the country, and the desire to seek technical cooperation with foreign countries is also very strong. All of these provide the cooperation foundation for German enterprises to implement industrial transfer. Similar to Ningbo, Germany's manufacturing industry is also very developed, and now it needs to transfer industries.
   according to the agreement between the two sides, Ningbo and the German mold industry will first cooperate in technical exchange and personnel training, the introduction of advanced mold manufacturing equipment and software, exhibition cooperation, etc. the German Chamber of international entrepreneurs will set up a special Liaison Office in Ningbo to assist in the implementation and development of the agreement.
Deng Yubo said that the annual output value of German mold workers is 300000 euros, while that of China is only 10000 euros, with a large gap. Through technical training and the introduction of advanced equipment, he hopes to help Ningbo mold enterprises improve their technical level and efficiency. At the same time, through the introduction of German enterprises to participate in the exhibition in Ningbo and China, German mold enterprises can further understand the technical status and market demand of Chinese enterprises, and promote the in-depth cooperation between Ningbo and German mold industry.
